Elizabeth & Tyler’s Simple, Elegant Wedding at Fox Hills Resort

January 5, 2018

Elizabeth from Manitowoc and Tyler from Howard’s Grove went to the same high school, but were two grades apart and had never spoken until Tyler’s sister married Elizabeth’s older brother. “We stood up together at the wedding, and I began to notice him more and more,” Elizabeth says. “But it wasn’t until 2014 when Tyler’s cousin married by little brother that we finally decided to get together.” Some things are just meant to be!

Tyler proposed the day after he got back from a 4-week training for the National Guard, which was also his 23rd birthday. “We went out for dinner in Milwaukee to celebrate,” Elizabeth remembers. The two then walked to Marquette Park, where Tyler had flowers waiting in the gazebo. “He told me how much he loved me and wanted to spend his life with me, then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Little did I know, his best friends were hiding in the bushes taking pictures of the whole thing!”

Elizabeth and Tyler planned a simple, elegant wedding with a ceremony at St. Paul’s Church in Howard’s Grove and a reception at the Fox Hills Resort ( now  Par 5 Resort)Elizabeth opted for mint bridesmaid dresses, which she found along with her own gown at Affairs to Remember in Manitowoc. “I have been going to them since prom in high school, and they’re always amazing to work with!” Elizabeth carried the mint color into the décor, accenting with soft pink and gold. The couple found their rings at Elizabeth’s dad’s jewelry store, Rummele’s Jewelers, in Manitowoc.

At the ceremony, the church pews were decked out with floral arrangements that Tyler and Elizabeth had made. The two kept it traditional and didn’t see each other until Elizabeth walked down the aisle. “I was very nervous prior to the start of the ceremony,” she admits. “But once I saw Tyler’s face and finally walked toward him, my nerves changed instantly to excitement.”

Then it was time to party! During the Grand March, the bridal party sported Hawaiian shirts and funny hats, because the bride and groom were off to Hawaii the very next day. Elizabeth and Tyler made the centerpieces, as well as a large Mr. and Mrs. sign that rested in front of the head table. There was also a memories table, to honor relatives that had passed, and two guest books — one for folks to sign as they walked into the reception, and one for the photo booth.

Dinner, catered by the Fox Hills Resort, was “traditional but amazing.” Guests enjoyed a family-style dinner of chicken, beef tips, potatoes, and stuffing. There had been an open bar at Elizabeth’s parents’ house following the ceremony, an open bar at cocktail hour, and finally, complimentary beer and wine for the remainder of the evening. For dessert, there was all kinds of cake: lemon poppyseed, red velvet, confetti, and marble.

Then came the dancing. The DJ kept the dance floor full all night, taking requests and even helping Tyler and Elizabeth play the shoe game on a whim. As a late-night snack, the Fox Hills brought out pizzas with a variety of scrumptious toppings. Elizabeth says she’s most grateful to her photographer for capturing the day in pictures. “The day went by so fast, and after that, all we have are the memories and the photos to remember it by. Without our photos, we wouldn’t have been able to share with everyone just how beautiful and amazing our wedding day actually was.”
